NEW Stakeholder Arup to Lead Energy Studies

Wyre Eco-THEP stakeholder Arup—an independent firm of designers, engineers and technical specialists known for work such as Sydney Opera House and The Gherkin—are to lead the delivery of research into structural forces and stresses.

The research is a result of Wave Energy Scotland awarding £250,000 to a range of industry-specific studies, including further research into wave energy materials and technology transfer from more mature technology sectors to the tidal sector.

Tim Hurst, Managing Director of Wave Energy Scotland, said: “These studies will assist WES to understand where gaps exist in our understanding that will require future research or development in order to drive the development of wave devices. I have no doubt that there are reliable technologies used elsewhere in other industrial sectors which can be employed in developing wave energy technology.”
